You know over the year's lots of songs and bands have talked about pain, heartache, sorrow and lost love. But at least one recent medical study shows that no matter what kind of tunes you listen to it can help the pain go away.

Researchers in Ohio conducted a study with sixty people all of whom had been suffering from painful conditions such as arthritis or disk problems for an average of six years. They divided the patients into two groups one that listened to music and one that didn't.

And had them record on their levels of pain. Before hand the participants reported that there usual pain averaged 6 on a 0 to10 scale and their worst pain exceeded 9 out of 10.

During the study the subjects listened to music on a head set for an hour a day.

Some went for instrumental, some classical, some picked any other music they liked, everyone kept a pain diary.

The music group said their pain had decreased but the group deprived of music reported that their pain actually increased a bit. What's more then soothed that music reported feeling less disabled and reported feeling more power over their pain.

So taking time for some melodies may have its benefits a littler pop of a little jazz doesn't just ease the pain, it may empower you as well. But make sure the ear buds aren't turned up to loud. Your ears will thank you.
