allergy-capital

If you live in Knoxville, Tenn. and have pollen allergies, you're probably miserable right now. That's because Knoxville is the spring allergy capital of the U.S., according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

For folks on Rocky Top, 2011 is the second year in a row atop the association's list. Tennesseans down the road in Chattanooga didn't fair much better. That city finished fifth on the list. The complete top five:

1. Knoxville, TN
2. Louisville, KY
3. Charlotte, NC
4. Jackson, MS
5. Chattanooga, TN

See the complete list here.

Knoxville topped the list this year due to higher-than-average use of allergy medications per patient and higher-than-average pollen counts. The city has been ranked in the top 10 of the list for six of the last nine years.
