Food \ Healthful Hint

Which Organic Produce Is Worth the Price?

When it comes to pesticides, not all produce is the same.

So if you prefer organic fruits and veggies —but can't swallow the price—be selective. Go organic just for those with the highest pesticide levels.

Topping the list:

• Peaches
• Apples
• Sweet bell peppers
• Strawberries
• Lettuce
• Spinach

Those with the lowest levels? Onions, pineapples, asparagus, bananas and broccoli.

Washing your produce can help reduce pesticide residues but won't get rid of them completely.

Regardless, don't let fear of pesticides keep you from enjoying a variety of fruits and vegetables. The benefits of those succulent strawberries—whether organic or not—outweigh any risks.
