Sneak in 60 Minutes of Exercise Every Day

Experts say that we need about 30 minutes of physical activity, five days a week, for good health.

But to avoid gaining weight, we may need twice that much, according to research.

If that sounds impossible, remember that you don't need to spend an hour at the gym every day.

Instead, you can sneak in physical activity a few minutes at a time.

For example, if you work at an office, park as far away as you can. The extra walking can give you five minutes or more of exercise.

Inside, always take the stairs instead of the elevator. Depending on the floor you're on, this can add at least another 10 minutes.

During your lunch break, take a brisk 15 minute walk. Have a colleague join you.

At home, you can squeeze in 15 minutes by doing some heavy cleaning, gardening, or playing with your kids

After dinner, spend 15 minutes taking Fido for a brisk walk. Or lift small weights while watching TV.

All of that combined gets you to the 60 minute goal.

Whatever activities you do, make sure they get your heart rate up a bit.

With a little creativity and planning, you can fit in the exercise you need and still have time for the things enjoy.
