High Tech Solutions for Remembering to Take Your Pills
If you have trouble remembering when and how much medicine to take, you're not alone. It's estimated that two-thirds of us don't take medications in the way they're prescribed.
Check out these high tech gizmos that are coming to the rescue.
First, the MD2 by Epill. At around $800, it's the R2-D2 of pill dispensers.
You can preload many different medications, and once the times are set, the MD2 will remind you and with a press of a button will dispense the proper dose.
If you're on the go a lot here's an option
This high tech bottle by Simpill alerts you via email or phone when the bottle is not opened or if it's opened at the wrong time.
Here's the trick: removing the Simpill lid is just like hitting the send button on your cell phone--it relays a signal to a central server.
And if you've made a mistake, you get an alert.
Even more high-tech, this medicine cabinet of the future, from Accenture.
Currently just a prototype, it's got a camera mounted right into it that, with the help of face recognition software, makes sure that the right person gets the right medicines.
The cabinet is connected to the internet, allowing users to touch the screen to retrieve personalized health information.
You might not want to throw away those low-tech pill boxes just yet, but dispensers like these could make taking medicines a bit easier to swallow.
